Was it just me or was this movie
one of the saddest films ever made? I was BAWLING. Multiple times. Just me?

shareDude, I was holding back tears within the first 5 minutes of the movie. There's something so damned pure about this movie. Freedom and the majesty of nature. The eagle soring at the very beginning. When Spirit is born and when we get to see him grow into a proud and strong leader. When he's running with the eagle. Throw in the Bryan Adams soundtrack and its just so damned beautiful. The whole movie is like that for me.
shareIn several scenes, I was horrified and disgusted. I fast forwarded through about 2/3 of the movie because there were things I didn't find entertaining. Specifically the calvary soldier scenes. I found them extremely cruel and brutal.
Plus the horses acting like humans half the time and acting like horses half the time was annoying. Pick one or the other please.
That said, I enjoyed all the scenes of the Native American village and characters. And all of the general scenery of Spirit's homeland. The water, the canyons the prairies, very well done. Especially the grasses like when Spirit's mother was giving birth.
No two persons ever watch the same movie.share
It made me cry too. I saw it for the first time in years a couple months ago, and I got teary-eyed several times. For me, the saddest part is the scene where Spirit is on the train and "Sound The Bugle" plays. It reminds me of my friend who is in jail, so it really resonates with me. Anyway, this has quickly become one of my all-time favorite movies, and I love how emotional it is.

Yeah, very moving. Seeing horses and Native Indians being mistreated by stupid white soldiers is always upsetting, also because it really did happen.
Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
Same here man.
shareIt was more sentimental than downright sad. I did find myself crying a few times in this (when the mare got injured and, of course, during the reunion scene). Has to be one of the few emotional animated films out there.
