SODERBERGH IS THE WORST DIRECTOR EVER!

Soderbergh is a really terrible director. I wish people would stop saying he is "great". Oceans 11 and Traffic were good, but thats only on the basis of the cast. His cast carries his movies. But the cast can only carry his sh*tty directing so far. Take the Limey. What was this dog turd even about?! Some people like to say that Tarantino ripped off the limey when he made Kill Bill (Best Movie Ever) but I say that Soderbergh ripped off Pulp Fiction. Few directors can truly handle a fractured narrative and he is not one of them. Soderbergh needs to stop ripping off Tarantino, and Clooney and the rest of Oceans crew need to stop making movies with this guy. HE SUCKS! The Limey needs to go back to England and stay there! Tell me about Jenny? Tell me why soderbergh is allowed to direct movies! Sobergergh thought he was soooo clever by not having Chancellor Vallorum kill fonda, but wtf? what kind of ending is that? we wait the whole film for him to simply walk away and leave the guy, who may or may not live. I'm all for ambigous endings (love Donnie Darko & american psycho) but there has to be a point! Soderbergh did it just do it with no point whatsoever. He thought it would be cool. Well guess what, it was not cool and it was a sh*tty way to end a sh*tty movie. Without the influence of the great god-amongst-men Quentin Tarantino and the help of the Oceans 11 cast, soderbergh would be just another made for tv, direct to video, disney channel sitcom directing lowlife, which is where he's going to be after the good german tanks and clooney finally stops taking pity on this wannabe filmmaker.

You have misspelled and misnumbered your handle, it should read "crAnkman86".

Yep I agree didn't rate the film, Stamp's portrayal of an east end crook was pathetic, I have lived in the east end most of my life, if he lived here and talked like that people would laugh at him, that's what happens when you get a well spoken guy trying to be a cockney, laughable man! maybe Americans that don't know what a cockney should sound like might have liked it, also I thought it was so predictable, I rate soderburgh as much as I rate stamp, 0/10.

Steven Soderbergh is probably the most diverse and interesting director currently working in American cinema. He has made some bold choices as far as subject matter and style, which are not always successful, granted, but he's willing to push cinema about as far as it can go, with films such as The Limey. He also seems equally as comfortable with mainstream pictures such as Erin Brockovich or the Ocean's series. Why his name is not mentioned in the same reverence as Welles, Scorsese, Kubrick, etc, is mindboggling. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some Soderbergh fanboy - I have problems with several of the director's films (Ocean's 12, Kafka, Full Frontal, etc.), I just hate it when movie geeks bitch and moan about the lack of interesting and innovative films and when they're offered something different they go on the offensive.

"Tarantino is great is because he transcends the title of director to Filmmaker. He writes all his own scripts, which gives his films a certain something extra that Soderbergh and others can't achieve" - cronkman

Tarantino doesnt write his own scripts. he stole most of his best ideas from
roger avary, scott speigel and craig hammant. Not to mention the great directors he stole from. The best scene in pulp fiction - the injection scene was actually directed by craig hammant. Craig hammant was helping out his friend Tarantino because Tarantino had zero experience with drugs. All he asked for was a thank you in the credits. Tarantino didnt give it to him. When you are setting yourself up as the best director ever, admitting people actually helped you along the way cannot happen. And silly people like cronkman eat that silly stuff up.

Tarantino is living proof you can cheat, lie and steal other peoples work, call it your own and still be a success. Standing on the shoulders of giants does not make one a good director. But simple minds can only see people above the clouds.
Its the same reason everyone has heard of thomas edision - who was more an entrepeneur who had a knack for selling other peoples inventions, than being the actual inventor he is famous for.

Its easier for simple and lazy minds to remember just one name. That takes no real effort.

The Limey is an incredibly good movie on so many different levels. It could have had any different ending and I would have still loved it.

I liked Donnie Darko for its weirdness and funny lines as well. People who see it as pretentious are digging too deep. The Box was pretty horrid so I do think Kelly got somewhat lucky with Donnie Darko (the director's cut is highly inferior to the theatrical version in my opinion and does have pretentious eye close-ups).
