I prefer Jurassic Park III over Jurassic World.

Despite it's many flaws, this film still has more of the Jurassic Park spirit than the overhyped and overall soulless sequel we waited fourteen years for.

Oh, how I love it when message board users attempt to "translate" others' posts.

Only the original is good. That being said I still enjoy watching Jurassic Park III. I like a lot of the sequences in that movie. Not too complicated a plot. Believable acting from the main group. People think they were stupid, and I don't see why being stupid isn't allowed in a character.

Reasons why Jurassic World and Lost World were worse.
-Ingen isn't taking over. (unnecessary subplot that obviously will result in failure. also escaped dinosaurs is more than enough to build on.)
-annoying children. (whiny kids doesn't translate well ever.)
-Misuse of a character/actor (the actor from Life of Pi, and Jeff Goldblum)
-Ridiculous moments (raptors are nice? gymnastics dino take down? t-rex helping to fight O-Rex, and raptor/blue joins?)
-Jurassic World was cheesy.
-Lost World was ambitious.

Taming the Velociraptors (to any degree, really) was one of the biggest sins Jurassic World committed.

To quote Dwight K Shrute "Then you are an idiot."

Same here. This flick was better directed and executed with better f/x too.

no, this is the only film in the franchise that DOESN'T have the Jurassic Park feel. It feels like the odd one out, without this one we'd have an absolutely perfect trilogy where each film added something new to the franchise.

reply

Our hero, Alan Grant is back and he's one helluva lot better realized as a character than anything in Jurassic World.

For it to be a perfect trilogy they would need to go back in time and do all the sequels a lot better. And I mean a LOT.

reply

I agree with that. Some sequels may be better than others, but they all fall short of the original film's majesty.

Not really sure how you can consider III just a rehash of the original and not think the same of LW. LW is just a group of people running from T-Rex's and Raptors for two hours without any of the wonder that the first film provided. And those scenes were basically the same thing that was in the first movie. You had people running obstacle courses to get away from the raptors, and hiding in vehicles to defend against the T-Rex's. How many times can you show a giant T-Rex head trying to squeeze into a cave entrance or a tent, or see it's shadow behind someone, or see puddles ripple, or just watch them looking through a window at someone without it losing the effect? Cause how ever many times it took, LW passed that threshold pretty quickly.

The original trumps all the sequels.

LW, III, and JW all have their entertaining moments but really aren't much better than each other.

reply

That is not an unreasonable position to have .

Both are good IMHO.

I actually agree with you; I did enjoy JW for the most part, but sadly it does not hold up on a rewatch (many of the scenes that were excellent in the theater experience lose their effect on the small screen). JW 3 is vastly underrated, and honestly I feel it gets better on each viewing (though I think the original trilogy gets better on repetive views, since the cast is just so great to watch). None of the cast in JW has the same chemistry that the others in JP, LW and JP 3 do (yes, JP 3 has a good cast, and anything with Michael Jeter (RIP) is worth seeing many times).
