most emotionally haunting films

This strikes me as being one of the more haunting films I have seen in quite some time. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions besides the list provided below. I am sure there are many more, so recommendations are welcome. Cheers

1. Interiors
2. The Virgin Suicides
3. We Don't Live Here Anymore
4. Picnic at Hanging Rock
5. Lantana
6. Rebecca
7. Gates of Heaven

Basically everything by Sofia Coppola
Donnie Darko
Mulholland Drive
The Assassination of Jesse James - I'm surprised nobody mentioned this movie. It really is a hidden gem, very haunting with beautiful cinematography and score.
The Village
Memento
Melancholia
Nymphomaniac (especially the Delirium chapter)
American Beauty
The Hours
Saving Mr Banks
Brokeback Mountain
The Fall
The Machinist
Dallas Buyers Club
Requiem for a Dream
Ghost World - i know it's supposed to be a comedy but it's probably the most depressing movie I've ever seen and it's hard to explain why.

For me personally the most emotionally haunting movies are Donnie Darko and Lost in Translation followed by Nyphomaniac and The Assassination of Jesse James. The most emotionally draining I would say Virgin Suicides, Melancholia, The Hours and Ghost World. Every time I watch these I end up wanting to kill myself lol.

Well, the first 60 minutes, it is very funny (up until the moment where Enid and Seymour celebrate Seymour's birthday). And after those first 60 minutes, it gets more and more depressive (not to be misunderstood, the film keeps being very good, though).

So, if you want to get rid of that feeling to kill yourself, then stop watching "Ghost World" after 60 minutes. Within the first 60 minutes, the film is actually very funny and even kinda uplifting.

I'd say Schindler's List and perhaps The Pianist. However The Virgin Suicides tops the list for me - it is so psychologically moving and depressing, I don't believe there is another movie just like it.

Caddyshack
Blazing Saddles
Ghostbusters

I get weepy whenever I see any of these.

Does it get any worse than Oldboy? Although, the original Carrie and One Hour Photo affected me a bit too.

I am so glad you referenced "Sidney Hall". The movie stayed with me a very long time.
