There are so many good lists in this thread, and just like Rob, I am a compulsive list maker. I think my 5 'funeral' songs would be...

1. Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin)
2. Strangers (The Kinks)
3. Hallelujah (Jeff Buckley)
4. Under the Bridge (Red Hot Chilli Peppers)
5. Like a Rolling Stone (Bob Dylan)

The list may change, but I think this is a solid selection of songs.

3) Half Light I - Arcade Fire

4) Plainsong - The Cure

5) Strange News from Another Star - Blur

That's a great list, I actually found a Substance 1987 original German pressing that potentially has Peter Hooks signature...

1. Mercy Mercy Me -- Marvin Gaye
2. Great Gig in the Sky -- Pink Floyd
3. MLK -- U2
4. My My, Hey Hey -- Neil Young

Wow, hardly any IMDb threads 10 years old are even allowed to survive.

Lots of great choices here. I would add...

Angel- Jimi Hendrix
I Was Young When I Left Home- Dylan (although I could easily name ten more Dylan tunes)
Brokedown Palace- Grateful Dead (or Ripple)

But in the end there's only one for me:

Time, by Tom Waits

If that song doesn't bring a tear to your eye there's something seriously wrong with you.
