It deserved all the hype that it got.

Back then in 2002, Spider-Man had so much hype and in my opinion it was a good thing, a lot of movies are overrated with the hype, but Spider-Man is something that had never been on the big screen before.

I personally think these earlier Spider-Man flicks with Tobey Maguire are better than "The Amazing" series, The Amazing Spider-Man flicks looked more like a cash cow, Spider-Man had already been done before, so "The Amazing" series are nothing new, they wanted to make more money from the earlier movie franchise.

I personally think this movie and Spider-Man 3 are the most entertaining ones, Spider-Man 2 wasn't all that in my opinion, the bad guy wasn't entertaining at all.

They went with a darker storyline in Spider-Man 3, but it was still a fun flick. There's some things that you just can't remake (The Amazing Spider-Man & the sequel) both those flicks didn't do very well and apparently the actor who played Spider-Man fell out with the Director. Now they're changing things up big-time with "Spider-Man: Homecoming" that one is aimed at the teenagers of today which is understandable because this one which was made in 2002 was aimed at the teenagers of that year as well as the movie also appealing to adults, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" only appeals to teenagers (unless you're a grown extreme Spider-Man fan) so it wouldn't be surprising if it doesn't do as good as this 2002 original motion picture.

I think all 3 of them are good to great personally, Spider-Man 2 was the most dramatic and main character centered which is why its usually considered the best of the trilogy much like The Empire Strikes Back is to Star Wars. So its understandable why some don't find it as much fun. There will never be a Spider-Man film like these 3 again since Hollywood doesn't know how to make good movies anymore.

I never really cared for Spider-Man 2&3. The first one was a masterpiece and should've never had a sequel. But we all know the money hungry studios wouldn't resist the temptation.

I thought all 3 of those first ones were pretty awesome, with the first probably being my personal favorite, followed closely by the second. And the strangest thing to me-- considering I really NEVER react to any movies/shows like this, plus I was never really into comic books or anything-- but in the 2nd movie of that first trilogy, [[[ SPOILERS IN CASE ANYONE HASN'T SEEN THIS YET ]]] when Dr. Octavius goes to sink his personal little "sun" after Peter talks to him, and Peter turns around without his mask on, and MJ sees that he's actually Spider-Man for the first time-- that scene made my eyes water up for a second. That's always been crazy to me, because there hasn't ever been much of anything that happens in movies that has any type of real, "emotional" impact on me, and since I've never been a big fan of comics and superheroes, I don't have much of a personal "investment" in Spider-Man-- so it's always puzzled me as to why that, of all things, has had that effect on me (and it's happened a couple of times, out of the handful of times I've seen it). I do know though, that the musical score assisted in a big way, because that sticks out in my mind for some reason... They did a masterful job of orchestral composition and arrangement, that makes things feel a lot more dramatic. I actually remember noticing the same thing in the first movie-- with the musical score making a big moment feel even bigger-- [[[ AGAIN, SPOILERS ]]] when the Green Goblin attacks the parade, and MJ falls off the balcony, and Spider-Man catches her and takes off, swinging from building to building, taking her out of there. The orchestral music that they have playing in that part is pretty epic, and it fits that scene perfectly... Random observations (based primarily off of scattered memories) of decade-and-a-half old movies, haha.

Just rewatched the first Spider-Man (2002) and I have to agree - it really did deserve the hype.

For whatever reason the Amazing Spiderman was made - a.k.a money - it doesn't bother me because all movies are made for money. But I definitely don't think that TAS even remotely stands up to 2002's version, however dated it is as a film. It sure as heck doesn't stand up to Spiderman 2. Not even slightly.

I think Spiderman 3 is pretty flawed, but I still kinda liked it for its wackiness. I miss how movies these days aren't very experimental - they usually fail because they're too predictable, like all the Transformers films.
