OT: Who did/didn't go to their high school proms?

I was just wondering if anybody did or didn't go to your proms when you were in high school? I didn't because I had no one to go out with since I was lonely through out high school. I had friends (most of them guy friends), but I never had a romantic relationship until I was 23.

Lol, my Mom forced me to go to mine, which is the complete opposite to Carrie's Mom haha. Hated it and would not have regretted missing it, people were even laughing at me while I was having a photo taken because I hated smiling, Carrie much? lol!

reply

I didn't go to mine. I was one of the losers in school who had few friends, let alone any guys who were interested in me enough to ask me. lol, I've always joked that if I had gone to my prom it would have been more like Carrie than the romantic ending of Pretty in Pink. Definitely a lot of blood and people laughing.

When I was little, I didn't want to go because of Carrie, but when I was 18 I decided I did want to go. I ended up being forced to take my ex-girlfriend with me, but we were still friends so it wasn't awkward. Our theme was New York, New York.

Nope, and didn't really care about it. I didn't date, but honestly prom wasn't my thing like it is to some people. I was didnt go to my high school the last years as well, did different things, so it was just another reason not to go.

I did not and even though I knew a lot of people, prom was not mentioned once. Doing school events was not considered good at my school. It was a pretty crap school in LA and we were anti teen spirit.

We didn't have a prom at our school here in England, but a couple of the girls in my class asked if we could have one, the headmaster said yes but the two girls who had asked would have to organise it themselves which they were happy to do.

The two girls sent round a piece of paper which we had to put our name on if we were interested in going, it took ages for the paper to get round the class room it was all that I heard about for the duration of a two hour science lesson(not that I was bothered), well anyway, after much debate and laughter the paper made it in front of me, there was just two names on the paper that of the two girls that were arranging the prom and a few others that had been added as a joke and then deleted by the person who's name it was.

What I can remember, although my memory is vague, that was odd, was that both the girls who were organising the prom were neither popular or friends with anyone, my memory is vague though, neither of them were anyone I used to speak to anyway.

Needless to say we didn't have a prom at least not that I know of, I never heard anything of it after that. I wasn't bothered either as I had never heard of a prom prior to that day and it sounded *beep* anyway. Our class was also banned from doing science experiments but that's another story.

My sister on the other hand had one so things must have changed, her picture in the prom dress is on the living room wall, one thing I can remember about her prom was that all the girls went together in a limo they hired I don't think they went with dates.

Also my old high school has been demolished not by a fire like in Carrie but by bulldozers, I couldn't believe that.

A wild forever-aloner appears! I'm turning 34 in less than 3 months and I never had a gf.

Needless to say. I did not go to the 'leavers-ball' at my school (we did not have 'proms' in UK). In fact I had left by then, but would not have gone anyway as I did not know any woman I could take.

I didn't go to my high school prom and don't regret it one bit! It just wasn't for me. I'm only 4 foot, 10 inches, so finding a dress would have been damn near impossible. Plus, I didn't (and still don't) care for dresses. I was made fun of in high school and considered geeky and ugly, so I would have been severely laughed at if I went.

I'm so glad I wasn't forced to go to prom! It would, most likely, have been the most embarrassing day of my life!

I didn't! I was too ugly and fat.. So, no i certainly didn't get an invite. We used to have a "Boosters Club" that sponsored the proms and other celebrations through out high school..

They usually had a school parade before the prom. The President of the club said: "You could be one of the Floats."

I didn't. I never participated in any high school function that wasn't mandatory. I spent my entire high school career hiding the fact I had social anxiety, and when I graduated I didn't even attend graduation. I would then go on to be a shut-in for the next 5 and a half years because High school was literally the only place i went to because I had to go.
