Hated the movie and thought it was over the top. But now I ''get it''.

I saw this in the 2000's on a movie channel as a teenager and thought the movie was exaggerated trash. I understood that some of it was fantasy but I thought to myself ''who actually has this kind of personality. so unrealistic even for a killer''. But since then I have learned more...

After spending sometime in online political circles I realize now the Bateman personality is absolutely real and synonymous with mostly the Baby Boomer's. That is their culture, a cut throat and competitive nature and zero empathy. They would step on anyone's neck to get ahead. Even in their older ages you see glimpses of who they were in their heyday and it was pretty close to Patrick Bateman apart from the whole killing (or not killing) people thing. The movie is a portrait of the boomer mindset.

Yup. It's a satire of American capitalism and consumerism

Holy shit, there is no limit to the depth of stupidity on here.

You obviously still don't get it. It's satire, his personality isn't supposed to be realistic.

Also, your generation is one of the worst ever.

You're funny 🤣🤣🤣

Baby boomers have "zero empathy"? Lols, not in my experience. As a millennial I find them infinitely more empathetic than people in their 20s and 30s today. Main character syndrome is a social media era problem.

(Priceless) “who actually has this kind of personality. so unrealistic even for a killer (it is about a psychopath). But since then I have learned more...” (Hysterical)

(More priceless and truly hysterical). The business card scene in the movie.
