Former Bond girl Denise Richards recalls being made fun of for her role as Dr. Christmas Jones opposite Pierce Brosnan in The World Is Not Enough.
Sad to hear. Richard’s is a perfectly capable actor, she’s great in Wild Things. Her casting as ‘Doctor Christmas Jones’ is clearly a joke. With that understood, I found her character likeable and enjoyed her huge tits drenched in water.
I’ll take Christmas Jones, the morons who hate on her can have Rosa Klebb. Enjoy.
It's sad that actors get ripped on for their roles (Ahmed Best...) but the reality is that her performance here isn't that good. You make an excellent point about Christmas Jones when she's soaked through (or is that two points?) but aside from looks, Richards doesn't bring anything to the role. She doesn't have the gravitas to be believable as a scientist, and she doesn't have the ironic playfulness to get away with playing off the "sexy scientist" with a delightful wink. Generally, she's kinda flat (her performance, I mean; so, so obviously...)
I'm sure she can do better work, but she's only okay here. She's got the assets for a Bond Girl, she isn't distractingly bad, but she just doesn't bring anything to the table.

Also, just because somebody didn't give a good performance doesn't mean that they aren't sexy (in fact, often times, sexy people aren't good actors). Who I'd want to sleep with is not necessarily who the better actor is. We might as well say that Denise Richards should have been James Bond because we'd rather sleep with her than Pierce Brosnan. The whole argument is fallacious.
Furthermore, I said Richards was "only okay," but I didn't condemn her utterly as doing a bad performance.
People are idiots. She did fine and was smoking hot, and there is nothing wrong with men getting to have a absurd fantasy once in a while.
And she is completetly correct. It would ahve been retarded for her to NOT dress sexily in a freaking BOND movie.
She was the best thing in the movie!
