Why are all 9 year olds scared of this?
shareDon't be ignorant. Children are very open to things. Sure you were scared of a lot of irrational things at that age, and not just movies designed to scare you.

9 year olds and snow days seem to have something to do with this movie...weird
anyway, wish id watched it when i was 9...some xfile episodes freaked me out when i was 13-14 and now they seem lame. this seems lame now but i imagine a 9 year old me would have freaked...esp on a snow day ;)
I wish I had seen it as a kid as well! I was scared sh!tless of the wolf (dog?) in the freakin' Lassie movie from '94, as well as the one in The Neverending Story... Oh, and that big dog monster thingy from that one Ewok movie. Would surely not have any effect today (I know the last of those didn't, because I recently rewatched that).
(Not sure why my examples all include canines.)
