How there practically the same age.

Kilmer was at least in his mid 60's (Jon Voight was 61). The parents were all in their early to mid 40's. It's very possible Kilmer coached them early on in his career with West Canaan.

15-20 year age difference. If they were 18, he would be in his mid-30s to early 40s.
