Was Kilmer Torturing Mox...

...by NOT cutting him when he had the chance. After the first game Kilmer caught Mox reading a book instead of paying attention to the game, which he replies "If your daddy hadn't played his heart out for me I would cut your ass." Obviously Kilmer didn't think highly of Mox as a player or a person for that matter. And he didn't hold his dad in high regard either as we later learned ("Your daddy was giant pussy, but atleast he listened!!!"). And Mox was a Senior back up QB, with 4 games left in the season. What's the harm in cutting him loose now to make an example out of him? Of course that's without the knowledge that Lance is about to get hurt.

Unless he figures that cutting is to light of a punishment. If he's not on the team anymore, then he can't touch him anymore. But if he's with me at practice everyday, then I can berate him, and grab him by the face mask as much as can fit into one day.

Probably because he knew how talented he really was and would need him if Lance was taken out.

He did think highly of Mox’s father. He said his dad played his heart out for him. He kept him on the team for the father. And Mox didn’t quit because his father wanted him in football.

And as said, there’s a chance that Kilmer knew Mox was good. And Kilmer may have been a jerk, but he was 100% dedicated to winning and fielding a good team. So he wanted the good players there.

Thinking about it more, Kilmer had opposite views of Mox and his father. He knew Mox was a great player, but hated him as a person, where as based on the two times he mentions him, he did respect Mox's father as a person, but thought very low of him as a player.
