I watched this for the first time since it came out. I remember liking the first half and not the last…

I haven’t changed my mind. Once Max is killed the rest of the movie of Cage doing what he does best. I’m kind of all done with the character starting out calm then going nuts and chaos ensues. Over the top psycho. Yawn.

I love all of it. It sucks when they kill Max because he’s so likeable (still Joaquin’s best role) but it’s a punch to the gut and the ensuing tension is brutal - Cage is handcuffed and completely at the mercy of these psychos and only makes a hair’s breadth escape.

Brilliant and underrated thriller, one of Schumacher’s masterpieces.
