top 5 'worst' disney movies

it's not that they have to be 5, only i can think of 5. may be the word "worst" isn't appropriate. actually i like all of disney animated features to a certain degree and may be because of high expectations i find some of them dissapointing, or they just don't match those which i really like. don't get offended, my list is mine, it has nothing to do with you, so... here are the films which for me are not in the same league with beauty and the beast or the lion king for example. in no particular order:

1.treasure planet (no real magic, especially the ending was too "starwar-ish" and also i love the original trasure ISLAND story, i don't think it was needed a new version of the tale)
2.lilo & stitch (i don't know, it just didn't grab me, only stitch was cool)
3.the emperor's new groove (same without the stitch part)
4.aladdin (actually i don't think it's bad, only i watched it with bad dubbing, and may be that was the problem)
5.fantasia (may be it is a masterpiece, but it wasn't my kind of fun)

Hey I don't normally write on these boards, but just wanted to share my opinion!

I own all the disney animated features, even the obscure 40s ones like Melody Time and Fun and Fancy Free etc and I still watch them all. A huge fan. I have always wanted to be a character designer for Disney and have just applied for a job blah blah ANYWAY, when I first saw Treasure Planet, I was so upset with Disney that I disowned it and left it out of the collection. Until a few days ago because it was on special offer and I gave it a second chance. It's just this movie has a main character with an undercut, a pony tail and a scar and is a moody angry assed looking teenager and there is an indie song in it that is going to date it so bad in a decade or so. At least musicals and fairy tales don't look dated as they are always kinda classic. Anyway here is my top five worst (Even though I still like them all)

1 Treasure Planet - makes me feel sad it's so lame.
2 The Black Cauldron - just so poorly done and it stinks of Don Bluth almost.
3 Home on the Range - Like a really long Loonet Tunes cartoon, but not funny.
4 The Rescuers - very very lazy animation compared to decades before. Again, whiffs of Don Bluth style.
5 Every sequel except Rescuers Down Under (that was ace and almost just to make the first one right) The sequels are made in different Disney studios, have poorer animation and are straight to video, and are always unoriginal storylines and Mr Disney would have despised them. Especially the ruining the older classics like Cinderella and Bambi.

Rant over. Peace out! x

5. The Rescuers

And I will get him back even as he gloats. In the meantime I'll practice on less honorable throats!

In no particular order..

1. Atlantis - I was so bored watching this
2. Beauty and the Beast - I don't care if it was nominated for 'Best Picture', I didn't like it. Yeah, I went there!
3. The Sword in the Stone - was there a plot?
4. Robin Hood - same as above
5. Oliver & Company - I just found it dull, and there were too many cliches

I also didn't like The Hunchback of Notre Dame or any of those Godawful sequels. I haven't seen Chicken Little or Home on the Range, but I'm pretty sure they would bump a couple off my above list if I did.

I know how I feel about you now

Here's my least favorite:
5. Treasure Planet = Doesn't capture my interest at heart.
4. Oliver & Company = Not the best. Too many random songs and pop culture references.
3. The Black Cauldron = Not bad, just not the best disney movie out there.
2. Chicken Little = Doesn't seem very Disney-like for me…
1. Home on the Range = Way to babyish for a Disney film. Thumbs down.

Well, you sound pretty young. You weren't around when Disney made some pretty dated movies in the 60s and 70s about teenagers and animals.

Truth be told I don't think Disney's ever made a bad animated film. I think Treasure Planet, were not for the most excellent usual Disney quality production values, and the superb scrips, characterization and excellent story, had the potential to be a real bad movie.

What's amazing is that it isn't. It comes close with the sailing ships in space thing, but it's got incredible strong production values, which makes it a good movie.
