Did You Think Laura Dern Overacted?

There were good performances by the cast but I felt like Laura Dern was chewing the scenery. She was trying too hard and it looked unnatural.

To be honest I thought they were fine. Her character had quite a sad ending I'm glad they didn't ruin it by showing her to be coughing though the movie.

I think you don't know the meaning of the word "overacted".

Yes, I think her smile was very forced (same as it was in Jurassic Park).

Nah, I'd say she underplayed the part, but that's the sort of performance her role called for. She did a commendable job.

Nope.

She was wonderful, very natural and optimistic in the face of adversity. A great performance. She did Miss Riley proud.

Overacting might be too harsh. I agree there wasn't something right. I found her more noise or annoying in every scene she was in. It might be the writing and directing. She was the only performance I didn't enjoy.

No, I don't think she overacted at all. You want to see overacting, check out this death scene from an actual movie:

Laura Dern is a great actress, and it is too bad that she isn't in more inspriational films. Both of her parents are great actors too. Talent in spades.
