I like English dubs.
Whenever I say that I prefer the English dubbing because of the fact that I was born in America, I am called ignorant. But I feel like it helps me relate with the characters since it's my language. I study other languages, but I know just about everything about English, so I just find it a lot easier for me to put the voices to characters. Now, some people suggest subtitles, but that's just not as good as hearing the characters speak in your language. You cannot detect subtle hints in the words that the actors are actually quite good at including. It annoys me whenever somebody tells me that I'm missing out or that I'm being fed some Americanized version that isn't anything like the actual show. I don't know how translation could change a show that much, or why people would want to. I'm sure it's different but it has to match the visual, otherwise it makes no sense, and as far as I know they do not actually add new animation(and if they did, I doubt it wouldn't be obvious).
Is there anything really wrong with English dubs, given the voice actors are skilled and the translation is well done?
