Annoying Kid!
The movie was great, but i hated that kid who was whining about god the whole time.

I agree!
Do you know what "Deisme" is?
it is the religion that god made the world and the nature and then sit back and didn't came in again. So in my eyes it says that god looks into the sky upon us like a tv-show.Lol,I don't believe in god but I liked the "deisme" theory!
exactly! i was wishing that he would die as soon as possible just to shut up
shareOk, so what if this kid likes to talk about , God? I don't care what religon you are it doesn't give you the right to wish people of other religons to die. Now, I am christain and I don't go around thinking that because you are Jewish, and won't stop talking about Judaism, that I wish you dead. Rember this is America and we do have the freedom of Religon. and to practice, and preach.
shareI agree with you completely... at least until you say that America has freedom of religion. America has no freedom anymore. And sadly my Australia is being corrupted the same way.
Cause of parents death?
They got in my way....
That annoying kid, both his crappy acting and silly god nonsense made it really difficult to sit through the entire movie. Redrum dog, I couldn't agree more!
shareI totally agree. Just sat through the movie - which was pretty average. If "the kid" didn't take such a prominent role I think the movie would have sat a lot better with me.
Well directed and had me on the edge of the seat a few times but the scenes with the kid (and lack of emotion by his character) was a drawback.
Sav
Erm...the kid talks about God the whole time because that's how Stephen King wrote the damn book. David's the most dynamic character. So everyone shut up. =]
shareI totally agree! Thekid ruined it, actually I think the actor was more annoing than the character. I would've shot him myself....whew!
I agree! Good thing his sister died, I bet she would have been even more annoying.
Anyways, I liked the movie too, except for all that god CRAP. Dont get me wrong, I have nothing against christianity per se, just Sick and tired of the salvation crap that fills most movies these days. If I wanted a storyline, with the same morale, i would have watched 7th heaven or something.
Just my 2 cents
The Kid character was an obvious plot device. His spiritual character was required in this case because the story was very much about a conflict between good and evil, heaven and hell, God and Tak (Satan). In one part of the movie it refers to Tak as the 'god of this world' an obvious reference to Tak being the devil. The whole groeve 'pit' theme where Tak resides connects that character to the devil or satan refered to in biblical terms. One very interesting theme was the Kid as being the savior of those who do survive in the end. That was reinforced in a scene when they are in the theatre and the Kid finds a bag containing five tins of sardines (fish) and a box of soda crackers (unleavened bread. He hands the food to the others and says "there is plenty for everyone" If you notice that as each character takes a can, there is always five cans left in the bag. Even whan all 7 people take a can. This is a direct plot device to have the Kid 'feed the masses' as is written in the New Testament when Christ hands the fish and bread to the masses.
Steven King did a great job, and the movie, although slower moving pulled it off. If you remember in his "Langoliers" that movie was slow but also brilliant in its depiction of existence.
Yes the Kid was annoying but a necessary plot device to move the story along to its brilliant end.
Good reply, Brian. My son noticed the bit where the kid found the sardines and the soda crackers and drew the same conclusion as you.
I thought the mother was more annoying than the son. If David wanted to take solace in the Lord then why not let him? It's better than just moaning and bitching.
And all her carrying on about how God killed Pie. Sorry, lady but the sheriff did that.
As a Stephen King fan from way back it didn't surprise me that Ellen would be the next to be possessed by Tak.
There's an art to making love. And you don't even have a paintbrush.
A kid who has faith in God? LAME! He should have been a vulgar little brat who disobeys his parents, cusses, smokes dope, demeans women, and worships celebrities. But a quiet boy who loves his parents and worships God? Why that's just WEIRD!!!!
shareIt is weird that a child would have no desire to explore or experience new things. It is weird that he would suffocate the very human, very American, desire to rebel. Nothing saddens me more than seeing a child who has closed himself off to all the world has in order to sit around an re-read some book. And all because some authority figure told him to...
shareThat's just silly. Just because people were annoyed by the kid's faith, that doesn't mean he has to be the polar opposite. There are many types of personalities between "quiet God-boy" and "sexist, cussing, smoking, brat".
shareI was praying for his death!
shareThe kid was great. He was not annoying, he was the center, and the main protaganist. Tak knew this. The mother was the annoying one with her blatant, ignorant, bigoted, atheism and it was the reason that Tak chose her for his next host. No faith, no defenses.
shareIt sounds like you are the one who is bigoted and ignorant. I'm not an atheist, but I have no problem with people who do not believe in God. And it's baffling to me that someone can watch a movie where a mother loses her child and have absolutely no sympathy for her solely because she does not believe in God. She was mourning, and angry, and upset at the implication that God would let her child die. These are all natural human emotions.
