anyone catch this plot hole?

norm explains to healy that he went to mary for medical treatment (broken back) which he attributed to "a friend, baseball bat".

however, when healy sees norm transform from his tucker persona by ditching the suit, glasses and crutches his back is totally healed and he's able to walk with no problem.

if mary's a princeton educated orthopedic surgeon wouldn't she be aware of the healing time/process of a broken back? also, if she's under his care wouldn't he receive regular checkups to ensure that his back had healed? i mean, you can't really fake these things like a british accent.

maybe i'm complicating things too much, and i know that parts of the movie are completely unrealistic, but that little detail was always something that bothered me.

did anyone else notice this/agree that it's somewhat of a plot hole?

Actually, you raise a good point. How does Tom never die with all the punishment metered out to him? How are a cat and a mouse so smart? And most of all, how does everyone know his name is Jerry when we never hear him speak? I've never been able to enjoy the cartoon because of these things. Has anyone else noticed?

Riddled with em. Also what powers make a mouse capable of defeating a cat in armed or unarmed combat. It just doesn't add up. Maybe Jerry was bitten by radioactive cheese.

Princeton doesn't have a medical school, so she didn't get her medical degree nor do her residency there. Problem solved.

Is it possible that he did break his back to meet Mary but the crutches had nothing to do with his back injury? He did his research and realized that Mary is very loving towards people with disabilities. He broke his back to meet here but the crutches could be because of a made up issue to keep her around (polio or something).

I see a plot hole but if I discuss it here the administrator will delete my post.

I always figured he got a friend to crack his back with a bat. If it was just a minor fracture, he could still exaggerate his injuries far past healing. Some people with minor back problems can still have pain even though X-rays don't show much of anything. I had a buddy that had an accident on the job like that. His employers and a lot of other suspected he was faking for the Worker's Comp, but I believe he was in terrible pain. Just a slight mis-alignment can pinch the nerves.

I thought it was funny that he DID have his friend break his back, and he just milked the injury for as long as possible.

You are very observant. But I have dealt with some doctors who are complete imbeciles.
