ed norton would have been better

I have always been a big kaufman fan... so weird, so different, so... *beep* spaced out!!!

Ive just watched "man on the moon" for the 3rd or 4th times and somehting struck me... ed norton would have been perfect for this ... in fact, having jim carrey portray kaufman ... just doesnt work fo me... I cant see andy... physically, norton looks more like him than carrey... Im not saying that carrey sucked (hes a really good actor) but norton would have been much better for this....

the film s still great but i just dont see kaufman....

Funny. All the people interviewed for the DVD extra's documentaries, people who personally knew Kaufman, all agreed that Jim Carrey BECAME Kaufman, rather than play the part.

I couldn't imagine Norton doing as good a job as Carrey did in this instance, even though I prefer him as an actor.

I loved Carrey in the role. Could Norton be a better choice? Maybe. But now I can't see anyone else than Carrey.

I'm c.1968, so grew up with Kaufmann (as a child on Taxi) and really came of age with Carrey and Norton. I'm not a big movie goer and generally liked more Norton movie I've seen than Carrey's (male juvenile humor) but. . . Jim Carrey was brilliant here, and I can't imagine anyone else! This movie gave me new appreciation of his acting skills (channeling?) I just can't see Norton pulling his off as Carrey did. . . it was a brilliant and inspired performance. He wasn't just being Jim Carrey. . . he was Andy!

You've seen the film 3 or 4 times. Sounds like Carrey as Kaufman worked fine for you.

I don't know whether Norton would have worked or not, but Jim Carrey was astonishing in this film!
