I think Andy faked his death and moved to a commune or something. Or maybe he became a monk.

No, I think he's dead. If Andy were to play a joke of this magnitude, he would have shown up by now alive. Just my opinion.

He could have got away with it for a few months, maybe a year or two, but not for any great lengths of time, especially this long.

Actually, I think it would be easier for him to get away with it now, instead of then. Now -- if he's still alive -- he'd look thirty years older, thus very different, than the last time people have seen him as Andy Kaufman.

Bob Zmuda says Andy Kaufman DID fake his own death and will reveal this soon.

No. I didn't become a big fan of his till well after he died. I wish more than anything he was still alive.
