I wrote more than one post over on the 'Vanilla Sky' message board quite awhile back about why I feel this way, so won't repeat all that here.

'Open Your Eyes' / 'Abre los Ojos' IS a masterpiece, and in 'V.S.' all the trying to act like a younger version of himself by Tom C. because he simply was TOO old to play the part of the young, immature rich boy who found his first love (analogous to an aging person trying to fit himself into an old pair of pants 3 sizes too small) and the distracting overuse of song after song after song in the soundtrack(almost as if Cameron C. was himself parodying his own masterpiece: 'Almost Famous') just lessens any chance of quality comparison between the two.

Sorry, but it really is like comparing a work of fine art to a paint-by-numbers craft project.

I didn't think an American remake could pull it off anyway, but I expected SO much more from Cameron C.
