shareIMHO the comedy genre is at an all-time low. I'm no prude but I find movies like "Bad Grandpa" just God-awful with there sad attempt at out grossing or out-sexing the last raunchy comedy...and they all seem to be following the same formula. "Bad" this, "Bad" that...I'm waiting for "Bad Babysitters" or "Bad Dads." I'm sure the latter is inevitable...
I like the poster above who stated after 9/11 everything just got so angry and every show seemed to be a cop/CSI show. His or her theory makes sense.
I really miss pre 9/11 America...
There are decent comedies out there but few and far in between and usually not from a major studio. Off the top of my head movies like "Juno" are rare. A dying breed.
From hutt359 :
9/11. The 90s saw a buildup from the 80s as an overall positive. Comedy was the movie genre that was sitting at top. Pg-13 led the charge. Then 9/11, the recession, it all turned pessimistic and angry. TV shows turned into cop shows and 24. It just became all negative.share
Because modern films are about pushing agendas and preaching politics. You can't just have a fun and somewhat silly film anymore.
