padme having a decoy in her bed

wouldn’t hurt the plot of the film or the outcome of the scene in any way. and would have been a smarter move.

But the decoys she only had as princess, now she is just a senator.

The very first scene of the movie is literally Amidala's decoy being blown up.

Just waiting for the guy to come along to explain that it was actually the new Queen pretending to be Padme acting as a decoy for the Queen, expecting the Queen to be assassinated, but the Separatists realise this and assassinate the Queen thinking it's actually Padme impersonating the Queen, whom they think is disguised as Padme.

Pff, I have forgot about the scene. But anyway, Padme likely does not have so many decoys anymore, so likely her decoy was just blown up and she couldn't use it anymore. Also she had two Jedi as her bodyguard in the other room, its not like you expect someone to attack you then. Anakin and Obi-Wan anyway sensed the attack.

Well, the problem is, she doesn't have as many handmaidens or guards as she did when she was Queen, and they didn't anticipate someone would cut through her window with a probe. In fact, she was kinda taking her life into her hands simply by being on Coruscant and refusing the leave. You notice nobody came after her the moment she went off to the Lake Country on Naboo.

To be honest, in Aliens, Newt slept under the bed. Star Wars Ep 2 was 25 years after that (although a long, long time ago) so you would have thought that at the very least Padme would have slept in the spare bedroom (I'm sure her apartment had one, even though as we know, space is at a premium on Coruscant).
