THIS is how you write a good story that's female-led!
The reason this movie is far better than a lot of female-led woke films/tv shows today is, the story is very good (an even better version than the novel), the characters are well-written and likeable, the acting was great, the setting was beautiful, the witch culture was fascinating to look at, and despite not many men in the cast or story, they have a very strong presence in the film, both good and bad. In fact, the main driving conflict in this film is not that "all men are evil rapists," or "all men bad," but that these women are cursed into losing their true loves (who are male), because their distant ancestor was betrayed by a man she thought she loved. And it was the love between two sisters (NOT two lesbians) that the curse was finally broken at the end. That, and one of them was determined never to lose another man in her life again. Plus the ending was a lot of fun to watch. :)
