This has got to be...

... in the runnning for the worst movie ever. It's not often I get angry, and even less so over a movie, but this pile of Hollywood drivel has really pinched a nerve. Maybe it's the bleeding hearts strings that assualt my ears everytime the small boy comes on screen. Beggin to get a tear out of me. Maybe it's the rain that appears on cue everytime Alec's brooding character sets foot on the screen. Or maybe, just maybe it's the complete lack of originality. direction, writing and suspense that really gets my goat. I know it's supposed to be your typical action, popcorn affair but please, please make it at least half entertaining. Worst. Movie. Eva.
And the kids names Simon, as in 'simple' Simon. They really just were'nt trying with this one.

reply

the reason his name was simon as in simple simon is because that is the name of the book this movie is based on....and it really wasnt that bad, not that good mind you but not that bad...a good one to watch if you suffer from insomnia....

reply

ha! perfectly said. i had insomnia tonight and this was fun to watch

I wasn't looking for brilliant or intense, just simple and enjoyable.

There is a book?
I had no idea, is it the same title as the movie?
And by whome is it written?

reply

What's in your top ten list then? Will Smith in "Wild Wild West"? If you go into a movie with a nit picky attitude of course it will suck.I don't think it's that bad of a movie. If you want to watch garbage, check out the sitcom show "Life On A Stick". Worst ever.

reply

Yeah, I watched the film when I was about fifteen, so I was a fair deal less nit-picky than I am now. And I loved it, because I only saw it for the good parts, not the bad parts. I have since watched it again, and I now see the flaws, but I still stand by the fact that if you suspend disbelief it is actually a very enjoyable film.

reply

yeah i have to agree with the original post. when i attempt to watch this movie it aggravates me because its so awful. the only time i watched it all the way through is the first time. since then i can bear to watch more than 5 minutes of it. i usually like bruce willis too.

reply

You are accusing a man of having the movie "Wild Wild West" in his TOP TEN list, while SIMULTANEOUSLY accusing him of being picky?

The interesting thing about this is that you are insulting a movie based upon popular opinion, rather than because it is actually bad. (Wild Wild West)

So you are insulting a movie based upon an opinion that was force-fed to you so that you can make an irrelevant insult to a guy you are simply trying to inform about the various poor movies.

What is the purpose of it all?

reply

LOOOOL ... if this sucked .. what about HOSTAGE ... Jesus ... this was ok I guess ... Im surprised poeple liked the HOSTAGE crap ... probly cause they spent more money to make that.

If you sit down and watch the movie, yu might understand the boy acted strange.

I'm autistic and I watched that movie and it made me feel upset for that poor kid to go through the same thing as me. being Autistic. I had to have lots of speech therophy because i was late with everything, now I'm 18 and I just feel so happy on how well I have turned out to be. I now look at other Autistic children and it does upset me. Sometimes I just wish I don't deserve all the help I had. I feel that when you have Autism, Being Autistic, It makes me feel special and that goes for the same for other Autistic people. My heart goes out to others who are in the same position as being Autistic.

To understand about:

Autistic
Aspergers Syndrome
Autism

You can search information about those problems. It might change of how you are to people who are in those positions. It is hard to be Autistic. But I feel at the end of the day, There is no harm of someone who is normal with being a friend to someone who is Autistic. Some people don't understand, but don't let that get to you if you are Autistic. Because I think that if you are Autistic. You are Special.

that's awful for getting told off, not just some autistic people talk too much, some are quiet, like myself, i am a quiet person when i am surround by other people, but my mum always said to me, don't be afraid to communicate to someone, I know what she means and there is no harm in talking to someone, I feel safe when I am amongest with old people, I've always been that way, it does happen to other people when they talk to much, those who aren't autistic or are autistic. Do you have learning support?

I understand what you are saying, I was told to give them the fists for those who bullyed me, but my mum didn't want that, she said to me that the teachers will sort this out and i said they won't, I'm at College now, there was a problem with a boy who i couldn't stand, he took the piss out of me (sorry for swearing) and i just had enough, i warned him that if he takes the piss once more, He'll get thumped, but then i told my mum that i am on the edge with all of this and i am about to flip, so she sorted it out with the teachers and i thought it wasn't going to work, it happened last week, anyway, the boy hasn't done it since, but that doesn't mean that me and this boy are friends because we aren't, I'm just been 2-faced with him. Just pretending to be his friend outside, when i ain't inside. Everyone can be 2-faced sometimes, and to be honest, I am glad to be that such a Bastard (sorry for swearing again) as for women they are bitches. I'm ok to others, as long as they treat me right and do the same for them.

I have some advice for you my friend, You don't have to be afraid to talk to others (i'm not saying you are, it's just to remind you that there are friendly people out there and will be there for you) If you wanna talk to someone on here, you can always talk to me privately, if you like. All you have to do is to send me a private message, so that no one knows our business. Hope that makes you feel better.

AH! That's where I recognized him from, thankyou!

Simon reminds me of the boy who played Danny Torrance from THE SHINING.

The whole scene with the boy running in the highway freaked the crap out of me! I have twin boys with autism and it hit a little too close to home. That kid did a great job!
The movie itself was okay, but I wouldn't watch it again.

True Story: The movie is shot in chicago, and my mother took me to audition for it, but she didn't tell me I was going to audition, So I got there, and lo and behold, I had to do a freezing cold reading. Needless to say the casting agent was not impressed. As a matter of fact, when I walked in, she didn't like the way I carried myself, so she made me walk out, and walk back in. And I still had to audition anyway. I got the "We'll let you know." I thought I had the part. I was nine years old. I was an Idiot.

So for years I have been bitter about that little punk getting MY role, and I Finally swallowed my pride and watched it, and that kid did a bang up job. I take back every bad word I said about him, and there were quite a few. I shoulda known that I had no chance against the "penis vs. vagina" kid.

As I said before, the little boy was amazing, and I freaked. I have to worry about one of my boys wandering onto the road daily, especially now that traffic is rerouted. Also the neighbor boy w/ autism, who stands at the curb and waves at cars as they stream by at 40 mph.
Also remember that the majority of children w/ autism are male. It is a rarity for a female.
Except for my town that is skyrocketing with autism. Many females also.

Beyond my little rant. Playing someone w/ autism would be extremely difficult. I actually thought the boy did have autism, because I couldn't imagine a child that young being able to pull it off that good. Few people have an idea what it's like, less a child to act it out.

I wish you well on any further auditions.

This movie was awful. That kid needed to die, he was a threat to society. Accept it. That we were supposed to view Baldwin, a realist, as a bad guy, and this piece of *beep* Willis as a good guy, is beyond belief. Utter *beep*

reply

Is it just me, or does Alec Baldwin seem to be more believable in the roles of rotten SOBs, and completely unbelievable as a good guy?

And since he's not a very good actor, doesn't it just seem like maybe he's an SOB in real life?

reply

I really liked this movie and I dont know why it got a 5/10... it should get a 8.3/10 because this movie is a DECENT movie.

That scene where Alec tells the dumbass genius about the MIT grad who is now a (double agent) colonel in Saddam's Republican army is just plain out of line. There is no way is hell that he would divulge something like that to these two Bozos. Those two clowns would never come anywhere near close to the level of clearance you'd need to get information like that. I mean, what would they do with that info, put it in a puzzle book?
Lame scene.
Besides, Alec Baldwin irritates me.

reply

The kid was not a threat to society. He was only a threat to the people who think they need a "mercury" code to keep their secrets secret. As far as we know, Simon can only crack the code when it's formatted like a "wordfinder" puzzle. Simon is not going to be intercepting encrypted communications and decyphering them for Osama Bin Laden. He's never even going to SEE the encrypted communications, much
less decypher them.

The relevant question is, "Can other people break the code as easily as Simon can?" If they can, then killing Simon isn't going to keep the secrets safe. If they can't, the secrets are already safe.

We have no reason to think that the secrets themselves would threaten society if they were revealed. Maybe they're only used to encrypt the names of other NSA victims.

Bottom line, Baldwin was a bad guy because he was only concerned with covering his own butt, not with protecting society. If the code has been cracked, people need to use something more secure, not cover up the fact that it's been cracked by murder, and continue to use it. Baldwin is the same as any other screwed-up bureaucrat who's backed a bad decision -- instead of acknowledging the mistake, and working to find a real solution, he simply wants to bury the evidence that the mistake was a mistake. The mercury code was not secure, but billions had been invested. Instead of informing the people whose lives depended on a secure code that the code had been compromised at least once, he tried to cover it up. That's no different than the building contractor who discovers that substandard concrete has made the building he's just built susceptible to collapse, and conceals that information hoping the building doesn't collapse.
