I just don't get it. This movie is crap compared to Snatch. Yes, Snatch follows the same formula, but it improves upon it greatly. Snatch has better characters, a better cast, a more rocking soundtrack, better jokes, it's not as boring as Lock Stock is, and it's more stylishly directed giving it more pizzazz.
So, that being said, how the Hell could anyone like this better than Snatch?
Can't really say that people must like one over the other, but the similarities between the movies did bother me.
I saw Snatch 10+ years ago and have watched it many, many times - it is just an easy-to-repeat movie that's very fun to watch.
But tonight, saw Lock Stock for the first time and got annoyed by how similar a lot of the scenes were.
I agree, however, that I think Snatch has a more stylized approach - it has better music and sound, better framing of scenes, a more unique and interesting set of characters with some even more off-the-wall events, and so on.
Some friends of mine laughed like crazy to this movie, but I laugh a ton more to Snatch.
As the years go by I like lock and stock better...both are great.
shareI find Snatch is slicker. It's got a more "mainstream" cast, it's got a larger budget, and the whole thing feels more seamless.
But, something about the seams showing works for this kind of movie. The washed-out picture, the down-and-dirty/fly-by-night shooting style of Lock, Stock - it all just feels rough-and-ready, and it's more charming and interesting as a result. It's like somebody mashed a slick, stylish action-thriller (comedy) with a documentary about weirdos in East London.
I love Snatch, but I'll take Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels for my top choice, too.
