This only appeals to intellectuals

I love this movie dearly, and although it is not Tornatore's greatest, it fits into my top 5. No one can understand the movie if they aren't intellectual. There are a lot of philosophys in the movie and to appreciate the movie, you have to get your mind going a lot. Many of the things Roth and Vince say throughout the movie are things only loners like they are can possibly think of. Only the true creative movie mind and think up diolague like this. Besides this, the movie is excellent along with acting. One of Roth's greatest and abviously Vince's greatest.

I don't think it's a movie for intellectuals I think it is easy going. What do you call movies for intellectuals? Or maybe for intellectuals but not cinéphiles. Anyway I loved the music, maybe it's that I don't really like movies who tries to pass philosophies. That's not really true. I think they tried to much to make it dramatic by visuals effects and used a "philosophy" to justify the dramatic end. In truth, I think it would have been much harder to imagine this guy in the real world altough, much more interesting in my opinion. The end just tell you it's impossible so it satisfies you. Lots of things would be missing like the piano and the eye catching photoshots,it would be hard to do and would require a real good idee. In all, I think it's an error to call it a movie for intellectuals.

i love this movie. that being said, this thread is perhaps one of the most idiotic things i have ever laid eyes on.
twolazy4work -> "a lot of philosophys in the movie", yeah what a real top-notch intellectual, ha.

How about musicians?

I love this movie more so for the way music affects and rules Nineteen's life more than anything. He expresses himself through music, uses it to relate to others...it's amazing.

It seems as though people love about this movie what they know. Be it music, psychology, poetry, emotion, film technique, whatever, it is a very, very well-rounded movie. People who don't like it are either not interested in the things touched in the movie, or people expecting something else and are too bitter to open up to it, which is true for any film, no matter how good or bad.

I personally was touched by the music. The song he recorded for the woman made my heart melt. The fist and last song he played nearly moved me to tears. I can also appreciate the other aspects that make it amazing, as otherwise it would not be nearly as effective, but I will always remember it as the film with one of the best uses of music to date.

can sb plz define the word "intellectual"?!

reply

Excellent question. But as there is no problem to find a lot of definitions, it would be interesting to know which one of them did the OP have in mind when he reduced the ability of liking and comprehending the movie only to this category.

reply

I thought it was a fantastic film. I have to disagree with your snobbish title. This film appeals to everyone who has a heart still beating inside him.

The difference between the OP and the many intellectuals I've known over the years is, they never told me they were intelligent.
