How did he learn to play the piano as he was a child?
I know it was mentioned that the captain was about to ask how the hell he learnt to play it but it was never answered and i became stuck in my mind too.

Whether 1900 is slightly autistic or not doesn't really matter (I don't think he is) it's implied this is what he does. Take the dual scene for example. What ever Jelly played 1900 could instantly re-play it note for note, the onlookers took this as a disappointment, Jelly took it as an insult, but in reality just doing that was enough to win the dual in my eyes. (that is if he had never heard the music before, which is what I think happened here).
