Why was Charlie's girlfriend on the poster for the movie?

I get LL Cool J, i get Josh Hartnett, i get Michelle Williams, i get Jamie Lee Curtis of course, those are all recognizable faces around that time and would be a draw for the movie. But why is the girlfriend of Josh Hartnett's friend Charlie on the cover? Shes not some well known actress that would be any kind of draw at that time.

Jodi Lyn O'Keefe was in 5 episodes of Another World 3 years before this and that was all she was ever in til this point.

You have all those known actors on the poster, then you have Charlie's girlfriend on there with them, she just looked out of place.

She was hot though and sometimes that's all it takes. lol

She was an up and coming actress at the time. She's very pretty and the posters do well with odd numbers on the cover. The other choices were Adam Arkin or Adam Hann-Byrd. If you had a choice between those three, would you consider her above them as well?

They needed another teen for the poster to give it that 90's teen horror feel like the Scream posters.

You've got LL Cool J and an old woman with 2 kids in the background. Add another teen and the scales tip into teen horror.
