Maybe the Fantastic Four dynamic doesn't translate well on screen?

I'm not sure what the issue with these movies are. Perhaps trying to creat an equal origin story for four characters is too much, and leaves all 4 lacking in depth?

I don't feel it's ever been done by someone who believes in it. It needs its own Patty Jenkins, if you will. The 2005 version was mediocre, and this came a year after the release of what is arguably the best Spider-man film to date, so it's not like it wasn't possible to do a good FF in 2005. The 1994 version was unreleased, that's how bad it was. And, c'mon, casting Miles Teller as the lead in anything kind of tells you how much they cared about the latest FF installment. No one really believes in it like they do, say, X-Men, even after so many X-Men failures.

I wouldn't blame the four characters - I actually think this dynamic is what makes the FF so unique and interesting. But maybe this would translate better to TV rather than film, where such a dynamic can thrive. Also, most of the Marvel TV adaptations are pretty good, so maybe that format just suits Marvel stories better in general.

I'd agree with that assertion if it wasn't for the MCU pulling off Iron Man, Captain America and all these somewhat unknowm heroes so spectacularly.

The Fantastic Four are corny at their core, so I think that definitely gets on the way.

I find these two movies very similar to the two Scooby-Doo movies which came out around the same time. Both franchises are not terrible but not great either. Both are corny. Both did mildly well at the box office. I'd say they are also vey similar in terms of quality, with the first one being decent and the second one slightly better.

Maybe they suffer from the same problem.

They haven't really done a movie that captures the spirit of the comic book yet, though they tried with the Jessica Alba version.

It translated just fine until some SJW idiot decided to make the brother and sister different races in the reboot.

But Ioan Gruffudd played Reed Richards like a freaking geek which disrespects the source material.

Ummmm, the previous 2 FF movies were pure garbage.

So was the reboot

I'd disagree. The Incredibles movies are the same basic set=up but do very well.
