Why does Hackmanns character act like a douchebag with Smith character?

I didnt get it, i know it was suggested something with sugar and low or high blood pressure or smth but he acted with him like he didnt wana deal with him, then later they kind of help each other and happy ending or smth.

Given he was such a pro (equipment wise) one would think he would have candybars loaded belt or smth, car full of hidden candies etc.

Brill didn't know dean, know what he wanted. All he knew was dean broke the rules and tried to meet him on the ferry and was being watched by tons of NSA people.

He still helped him by finding all the tracers and gave him a general idea of what the NSA wanted from him.

He tells him to stay away from him for his own safety and away from Rachel for her own safety. The next time he sees dean he's told Rachel's dead.

Then he tells dean not to use the phone. He gives dean a ride to his place explains more and tries to help him by playing the video and helping him.

Dean uses the phone when brill goes to get food and gets the NSA back onto him and brill. Brill has to blow up his place.

So in basically 1 day brills long time friend (picture suggests he's known her since she was a little girl) in Rachel has been murdered and his own spot has literally been blown up. .all because of this idiot who he didn't know or trust.

I'd be a bit cranky too.

Well clearly Lyle/Brill suffers from bouts of paranoia and as the movie plays out, we see that he's probably got every right to do so.🐭

reply

I think Lyle actually grew quite found of Robert,

reply

Well he did, but it took him quite awhile to loosen up enough to do so.🐭

reply

Yeah, he was hungry! He cheered up after they ate!

Hackman's character worked with Bonet's character's father. They were left for dead and was hiding off the radar because he knew the government wouldn't want to leave any loose ends. He knew the Feds were chasing Will Smith's character and with he involved with Bonet's character he was worried her identity and Hackman's identity would be found out and the government would start looking for them.

because HE MADE A PHONE CALL!

reply

Because he was 100% no nonsense. There was zero room for error. He wasn't there to make friends. He had to impart, very quickly, to Will Smith's character that he needed to listen, and take his instructions very, very seriously.

just watched it again, yeah its why he had to destroy the whole building.

The guy made a phone call!
