Ever After vs. NEW Disney Cinderella?

"Ever After" version of Cinderella is by far superior than the new version. I understand that the new version is a retelling of the cartoon, but I felt it just fell flat. The cartoon had more character development and feeling than this live version. Granted, it was aesthetically beautiful with all the flash to dazzle, but cannot compare to the story telling in "Ever After".

Two different films. Two different stories.

We write the story...

if i had to pick, i'd say 'cinderella' only because objectively, Ella is a nicer character. call me old fashioned but a lot of what people call 'strong and independent' today, i still call bitchy. Danielle didn't really have any humility nor a survival instinct. the fact of the matter is, as terrible as cinderella is treated in all the versions of the film, at least she's not thrown out into the street to fend for herself. that would REALLY suck.

I think Ever After is better.

I like them both. I think I'd choose Ever After, as I've loved it for almost 20 years now, but the new one has its own merits.

In Ever After, Danielle is a great heroine. I love that the stepfamily is given some humanity. You learn why the stepmother doesn't like her, one of the step sisters is shown to have a heart of kindness. They aren't just one-dimensional. I like that you get to know the Prince and that he has his own struggles as royalty and also feels caged in his responsibilities. The countryside is gorgeous as is the score. I like how they make the fairy tale seem "real" like how it really might have happened. Da Vinci made me laugh :)

The new one is gorgeous. It has a good message for little kids "have courage and be kind" and is a nice interpretation of the tale. I like how Kit explains his job as an "apprentice" which he is. I like how they both bonded over the death of a parent and the Prince very much loves his father. I can't find anything to dislike about it.

Might I add the Brandy/Whitney Houston version? It is a lot of fun and its a great Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. Casting is fun and lots of clever lines. I also loved it as a child. :)

Easily Ever After, which I absolutely love. It's actually my favorite Cinderella-anything

The new one stays too close to the animated version for my liking, honestly

I like the new Disney Cinderella better.

I like them both verry much!

But Ever After is set in different time than Cinderella 2015.
Ever after is more like a real story could have been and it has an historic feel to it.
Costume-Drama.

Cinderella 2015 is just like the Perrault fairy tale, fairygodmother, pumpkin etc.
Its collorfull, it has magic. Its a bit more childish.

But both of them ar really sweet and romantic movies.
