It's weird, isn't it? But it totally deserves it.

People loved this movie right from day one. Even often-stuffy critics didn't totally pan the thing. Okay, plenty of them went the stuff-pot route and turned up their noses at entertainment for the hoi polloi, but Ebert (among others) liked it and recognised its fun-factor. And audiences never cared anyway.

I have always loved this movie, I have the steel-case Blu-ray. It just holds up so well, the whole thing is just so darn ENJOYABLE! So many movies today just feel like they are trying to hard, and the Mummy is just so effortless. It was fun, exciting, thrilling, romantic, and even scary (scene with mummy when he first wakes up *shivers*). Definitely Brendan's best film, hands down. He and Rachel had such great chemistry! I was really sad she didn't come back for the third installment, but I can't really blame her as it was pretty bad.

It’s a fun popcorn cheese fest. I would rank it about on the level of other B-movie adventures like Romancing the Stone or Crocodile Dundee, but certainly not on the level of Raiders of the Lost Ark or Jurassic Park.

I like both the mummy and the mummy returns

I like this three stars more than Temple of Doom, my favorite Indy film.

Hmm, that is a tough call.

I've always considered this one of the most beloved films of the 90s, it was a hit and was/is shown on T.V all the time. Most people like it with quite a few having it amongst their favorite films of all time. It's a surprise it only has a 7.1 on IMDB.
