Surprisingly good after 23 years

Yes, the CGI isn't great, but Westley Snipes was great. Especially the WTF reaction to the blood god powers. I forgot he mouthed that. Nice touch.

Snipes was a total badass

Yeah it's pretty solid. Especially considering this came out a year after the genre really was in a bad place when garbage like Spawn, Batman & Robin, and Steel got released.

Holds up great! Solid flick.

Still good, but it aged somewhat. Camera work, editing and action scenes still hold, as they were ahead of their (Hollywood) time back then, but they didn't quite nailed the narrative. Movies like Blade and The Matrix have in them something new and something old - it confuses the mind, man! Am I watching a modern movie or one from the 90s?

The CGI is indeed bad and it is annoying. because they could have managed without it, especially considering director's background in special effects.

Mostly, I feel bad about Stephen Norrington. He had talent and was ripe for the 21st century, but Sean Connery did some bad jedi mind tricks to him. His "Death Machine" is one of my favorite sci-fi b-movies and because of it he has my respect forever.

agree. the effects definitely date this film, but the action and Snipes are pure awesomeness

reply

He was/is a physical talent.

Yes, some of the CGI doesn't hold up, but it's still entertaining. Snipes is fantastic in the role. Blade II is my favourite of the series, but I still put this one on occasionally.

Missed it by *that* much!

Came here to plug Blade II, too...
