what's magma?

yup, the head of LA's OEM, the man in charge of the city's emergency management policy, for a city on top of an active geological fault, said that.

the movie was a hoot, so bad it's good kind of thing.
enjoyable and funny but for the wrong reasons.

Pointless witty comment here ...

What's being a manager of urban emergency operations sitting on top of an active geological fault got to do with vulcanology? So he wanted to check what magma was from an expert. Big deal! Excellent quibble amounting to nothing!🐭

Apart from the fact that as part of his job (managing and coordinating emergency services, evacuation and relief efforts to the affected area) he should be aware of what magma is, especially as it's a very real threat in the geologically active area of LA, most people who attended school between the ages of 8 to 14 would know what it is anyway.

I guess the possibility exists that he didn't attend school, college or university, and the city just liked his resume and hired him without the required qualifications, but it seems a bit of a stretch to me given the extreme responsibility placed in that particular job.

It looked very tongue-in-cheek to me.

I got the impression he was asking it in disbelief, as if that couldn't possibly be right.
