shareI don't know, but that doesn't have anything to do with Jennifer Lopez. She OBVIOUSLY isn't native american. Not only visually, bbut she is like the most well known hispanic actress, partly for being hispanic. I still thought this was a terrific movie, just that detail bothered me.

Actually, she is obviously PART Indigineous (Native American from Puerto Rico) and part White (Spaniard), and here, wasn't she supposed to be a halfbreed (to use the most common term in the US)?...
Anyway she has mostly Indian features which come out even more without hairdyes and perms, so there you go.

shareJ-Lod's character in this movie is half native american and half caucasian. If you look carefully, a lot of the flashbacks of her mom have her dressed in native american cultural attire. Also, accessories in her hair that indians wear, like feathers, and she even kept an indian feather on the axe she used to kill jake (nick nolte).

I thought Jennifer Lopez did a great job in this film. The way she portrayed the evil in her character was brilliant, for example how she spoke and acted innocently when in fact she is a scheming b***h. Especially when she pushed her 'lover' off the cliff at the end, only to find out he had the keys to the car with him. J-Lo or whatever she's called can act although sometimes not too great. People automatically discredit her because she is good looking, envy perhaps. Get over it.

Jennifer did annoy me in this movie...TREMENDOUSLY.
She could have done a lot better. I was disappointed in her performance.
I liked that she looked more natural in this film, but she was miscast in
my opinion. And that accent she was doing was just plain bad.
And I'm not a J-Lo hater either. I usually like her movies......
But whatever, the movie was still amazing. Very underrated.

shareJ-Lo sucked big time in this movie. She can't deliver lines at all. I just watched the movie and i found most of her performance hollow and unconvincing, it annoyed me to how she delivered all of her lines as if she was reading them off q-cards, right to the syllable. I mean actors should follow the script, but they should also make subtle changes to certain syllables and such when necessary so the character doesn't seem one-sided, and that's exactly what J-lo didn't do. The only time i thought her acting was good was when she was engaging in coitus. And that's only because she's so smoking hot in the film. Au revoir, ciao.

I think her performance was excellent in this film. Stone knows how to get good performances from anyone.

she's always annoying. she's a terrible actress. not that good of a singer either. if she didnt have the nicest a$$ in hollywood, she'd be nothing. the song "jenny from the block" or whatever its called is the most hypocritical song in the world, she is so far from still being jenny from the block. yes, shes annoying. other than her a$$, she's not THAT hot. if you want to watch a movie based on a$$, rent a porn.

From what I read from her bio, her grandparents came from Europe (most likely Spain) and settled in Puerto Rico. So, Jennifer is actually 100% European (Caucasian) -- if her imdb bio is correct.

shareSilly person. I believe the whole point is that Lopez was cast in the part to play a Native American. Every time I see this type of mis-casting I am confused and saddened. It is always a detrimental distraction to the storyline. How am I supposed to have a temporary suspension of disbelief when such things are thrust in my face.
OK, lets say I had a red square with a word inside it and I said "Tell me what's written in the blue square". You would subconsiously be distracted with the thought "It's not blue, its red"; and forget about the subject at hand for a split second. If I kept on referring to the blue square, confusion and irritation would build, because event though you know what I am referring to, you know that there is a fallicy which I keep trying to reinfore, which your brain will reject consistently. An irritating distraction. See?
Almost all of Hollywood has no use for actors with....CHARACTER anymore, only beauty. Beauty is not bad, I don't want to see ugly women pretend to be eye-friendly, but I don't want to be forced to believe that a woman with Euro-Spanish ancestry is North American Indian, either.
This was one of the performances that I actually liked her in. I'd heard that Sharon Stone was s'posed to play that role. I can't see it. Not in a million years. I'm glad Jen got it. IMHO, she freaked it!

On the money, Dreamscape! You know what I can't get outta my head? Did ya catch that look on her face when she pushed Sean Penn off the cliff? She made a face like a hissing cat or something. That mess was creepy! As cute as she is, that face she made give me the heebie-jeebies, maaan!
