Jennifer Lopez - U Turn (1997) Discussion

You are not the only one. I hadn't seen this movie in years and then saw it playing on cable the other night so I sat down and watched it again. WOW......her accent was PAINFULLY BAD!!!! She was trying to pull off a Native American twinged accent but sounded more like someone who is mentally challenged during the rare attempts she even made at using the accent! I even had to rewind my DVR a few times just to hear her say certain lines again so I could have a good laugh! She could really have gotten a few pointers from Jon Voight, who also played a Native American in this film and damn near nailed the accent.

The worst part is- Alllll these years later, her acting hasn't improved one bit.

She's a great actress! I don't know why people get annoyed with her. She portrayed the character in a way that no other actress around today could. She's GREAT. I love her! And this is coming from a girl, (I know most girls are so jealous they hate her), but she's beautiful and talented. I guess that's too much for some people to handle.

Not since ANACONDA has J-Lo been so interesting and given scope to wildly act beyond her other soft comfy home movies and gain some hard edge.
Her character was hollow but she was not unconvincing.
The main thing that got me was she threw away her glamourous face and always looked sad. That simple consistency was inspired. Or uninspired. I dunno.
The best casting can be against obvious type, not mis-casting - then the actoress has to work.

I was too distracted by her nakedness to pay any attention to her acting. You are either gay, a woman, or have no movie sense at all. This movie was hilarious, so bad acting is allowed...and encouraged.

How were you "too distracted by her nakedness" when we merely see her topless for ohhhh about a tenth of a second...near the END of the movie.

I don't care if she's native american in real life or not, that's beside the point. She's just plain boring and incompetent as an actress, and she's always annoying.

Have seen her in a couple of other films and she's okay but she's outstanding in this one! Probably her best performance!

It was one of her worst performances but the worst part was the terrible script and the running time was way too long.

Somedays you just can't dispose of a bomb.
