What is your favorite scene in the Truman Show?
shareWhen Truman it trying to break the wall.
sharetruman and lauren in the library
shareLauren could have explained the situation to Truman with 2 simple sentences. "You are on TV 24 hours per day. Seahaven is a TV set and everyone here are actors."
One could make an argument that she was nervous because she knew that she'd be dragged away in a few moments. I felt her warnings were delivered in a very confusing manner.
There are so many. If I had to choose one, it is the last minute or two of the movie. I think I watched this movie when I was in college. I loved it then but 15 years later, I get so much more out of the movie now that I understand so much about life, the human spirit, and breaking through our limitations. And I can see Carey as more than a funny man with funny facial expressions that's going to deliver a laugh. His acting is truly superb in this movie, and I only came back to this IMDB's page to make sure this was in the Top 250.
Forget all the plot holes. It's a movie. Did the sun point in the right direction? Who cares? Forget getting lost in the little details that shouldn't matter. It's a great movie. It is one of the finest films ever created and it really deserves to be in IMDB's Top 250.
The scene after his radio malfunctions and he truly realizes that something is wrong with his world.
Sir, the override... It's been overridden...
Love that scene too - the magical moment he realizes the world is not what he thought, but he has some control...and he holds his hand up to stop the bus in the middle of the road. That whole sequence is beautifully done.
I'm a seeker too. But my dreams aren't like yours...
Truman attempting to make his way through the storm.
We see Christof being very quiet, when suddenly Truman shouts out "Is that the best you can do!? You're gonna have to-KILL MEEE!!"
To me, I saw that scene almost like the equivalent of a son defying his father, and the father losing his temper that his attempts to 'punish' the son have not worked.
It's also one of the few moments we see Christof just lose it. He's willing to push Truman to the point of almost drowning, and then when Truman's face comes by camera as the boat is capsized, it dawns on Christof that he may have gone too far, and orders the storm called off.
"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."
- Toy Story 3 (9/10)
My favourite scene aswell. :)
shareProbably when he notices that his friends work uniform has the same logo as the umbrella corporation & definatly walking out of the exit, saying goodby to all the fakes in his life!
shareWhen Truman starts becoming suspicious and just starts looking around for about 5 minutes. The music during that scene is awesome.
shareYeah this one ^.
Another part I like is when he buys a ticket for the ferry and the guy asks 'one way or return?', and Truman says '...return!'. Love the look on his face as he says it.
Paper... snow.... A GHOST!!
I was a little surprised the ticketbooth actor asked the "one way or return" question in the first place. I thought all the actors' jobs were ultimately intended to keep Truman in Seahaven.
shareI think he said it to asses where Trumans mindset was. He knew he wasnt even going to make it on the boat.
I read this in a chola accent.share
When Truman asks Lauren out for pizza and she sneakily tries telling him the truth about his life.
There are three types of people in this world- People who can count, and People who cant...
1) the scene where he is running through Seaside-the music is great-and then I've been to Seaside many times and my dad actually grew up with the children of the old people who own the grocery store (Modica Market)
2) When he's trying to break through the wall. He really showed off his emotional range in this film, I wish Carrey had done more things like this.
"I love knowledge. In fact I yearn for it." -from the TV show "Designing Women"
