Who should remake this?
Robert Rodriguez
Zack Snyder
Rob Zomnbie
Also, I would very much like to see an adaptation of the 'Sam & Twitch' comic book series either in animation or live action.

shareNot sure about the director, I don't really follow directors, but I think it's time for a really good Spawn reboot. And for the love of all things holy, NO humor in it. I get so pissed with how these directors keep making superhero movies into campy, light-hearted, near-comedys. i.e. The Amazing Spiderman 2.
If they used a pretty good sized budget, kept it dark and serious, and used great actors, it could be such an awesome movie. And don't dick around adding the pop stars and comedians, like Jamie Foxx, Jim Carey, or any other well known celeb, use unknown but good actors. Game of Throne is a prime example of using mostly unknown but excellent actors.
I would love to see Matthew Vaughn or Gareth Evans make an R rated remake.
~If the realistic details fails, the movie fails~
YES, this needs to be remade !!!
They're remaking everything except what should be remade ! WTF ?
How stupid are these studio executives ????

The best director for the job out of your list would probably be Zach Snyder.
Delving deeper into this the best director for this job in general needs to produce works that are 1) visual masterpieces, 2) dark and gritty and 3) unique and idiosyncratic.
Zach Snyder meets this criteria quite well but so does David Fincher and Howard Kramer (Running Scared). I would also hope to see Todd McFarlane as a co-director.
Rob Zombie, from my knowledge, can not produce the same scale of visuals as these directors.
Playing the part of Al Simmons? I say give it to Jamie Foxx. Why? Foxx has been fighting like a zealot for this role. I believe in actors who are dedicated to their roles for characters to truly be brought to life.
Nevertheless, a remake needs to be made but only if the ingredients and method are right. The Spawn franchise needs to show the world how incredible it really is and I think the world has finally caught up (see Deadpool, Daredevil (TV series)) to the point where it can stomach and digest a film such as this. Also, it will probably NEED an R rating.

Also, it will probably NEED an R rating.Scratch that. It would certainly need to be the type of movie that warrants an R rating as much as a Hellraiser movie warrants one. Speaking of which, it's long been my dream that McFarlane and Barker team up to write a Spawn-Cenobite crossover screenplay. Gaspar Noe would be perfect at the helm of a movie about love and death and revenge and S&M fetishistic demons. share
I was responding to the author of this thread and the directors that he chose. Those directors aren't my personal picks.
Gasper Noe hasn't shown that he can direct an action movie (from my knowledge) or at least a good one. We are talking about an action genre after all so you would need a director apt for that.
I don't know if as a director or an assistant director, if your thinking about someone more established, but I think Michael Paris should be involved. He hasn't done much but one thing he did is a Spawn short. And that short is freaking amazing. I think he has good ideas.
