Are American cinemas really like this during horror movies?
If so, I'd just wait for the DVD...

shareI've honestly never seen a horror movie in the theater but I highly doubt it. Althought it was an advanced screening near (or on) a college campus, so anything is possible lol.
sharehaving worked at movie theater for 7 years i can honestly say NO. security guards would have been all over these animals in a heart beat throwing people out left and right.
after all what else do they have to do
security guards would have been all over these animals in a heart beat
Last year my college saw a prescreening of Annabelle (crap movie. I know) and everybody got masks and whenever anything "scary" happened, everybody went crazy.
shareOnly midnight screenings of campy horror classics that everyone has seen. I think the fanfare would make scary flicks a lot more fun.
shareOf course not, and certainly not for a horror film that no one has even seen before...Let alone one that is based on a true story.
They were acting like it was the next Star Wars Film.

I've personally never been to a theater that was anything like that...in fact most of the theaters I've been to here in the states are pretty strict about not talking and turning off your cell phone.
But it was a premier right next to a college campus...so that could explain it
Of course not. They deliberately went over the top with it for the sake of humor and also to help illustrate the desensitization of the audience and the irony of that considering what happens to Maureen.
shareit was a sneak peek showing on a college campus, so the excitement is obvious. But it's also exaggerated.
shareCrap like this does happen though in theatres though. I live in Ireland and me and my mates went to see paranormal activity in Derry city some years ago and these stupid teenagers behind us ruined the entire film by shouting loudly and screaming at the top of their voices during every fright scene and generallu just taking the absolute piss. The useless security did nothing to stop it and cinemas today complain about piracy destroying their business, it's hardly a wonder.
shareLOl.....no at least it wasn't for me when I went. I haven't saw a scary movie in theaters in a while I think the last one I saw was Saw 1...I can't remember. Anyways, yes there are some screaming like most scary movies but its nothing bad like in Scream 2 where people are dressed up in mask for the movie and acting like a bunch of 3 year olds.
