Wasn't he a little OLD for her?

I loved the movie, but I found the whole romance btwn those two a bit far fetched. How could she go from that guy she dated in the begining of the movie to this old guy? He looked like he could be her father, or even grandfather. I think they should have made him up to look younger, or her to look older, because it just seemed wierd. Agree?

reply

I thought she looked much older than her date. It was unrealistic.

As many people are saying, it's true that each person can choose whatever they want.

But I also agree he was too old for her. There was nothing in the movie that was leading me to believe a romantic relation was going to appear. I honestly thought only a friendship was going to happen.

Every kiss they gave made me feel awkward.

I just watched part of this again. The thought occurred to me that Helen Hunt’s Mom’s character was much closer in age to Jack....and she may have been a much nicer person too. So maybe.....oh never mind. Lol.

reply

Well then again it's hard to be with an OCD person.

reply

Oh, for sure. I was pretty much just kidding around. Have a great day!

It was called "As Good As It Gets".

But if the movie had been about Shirley MacLaine dating Keanu Reeves, everyone would have been cheering. These "Weren't they too old?" comments ONLY pop up for movies with older men/younger women.

Alex Trebek's wife of 30 years was 23 years younger than him

reply

He does it in real life... he's extremely rich and charismatic.

I am in my 30s and am single. But I would want to date a younger woman between 18 to 24 because most every single woman I know in their 30s is a single mother who doesn't have time for me. Then again they don't agree with me religiously and politically so it's rather hard to have a serious relationship with them. But then again there's very few Christian Conservatives that are in their 30s or younger.

Also My, how I've changed in 12 years. Though it is hard to find anyone that has much in common with me.
