The soundtrack

I can't believe how amazing the music is in Miyazaki's films. Joe Hisaishi is an absolute legend. What's everyones favourite soundtrack out of the Ghibli films? I can't choose between this and Spirited Away.

This, Totoro and Kiki's Delivery.

Probably this, but I have (by far) the most exposure to it as I'm sure I've seen it more than all of the other Miyazaki films combined.

"Mononoke" definately has the best Ghibli soundtrack to me. I always LOVE to hear the "Legend of Ashitaka" score whenever I have the chance! ^_^

Personally I find of of the music in Miyazaki's movies to be particularly beautiful and moving (kudos to Hisaishi). My favourites would have to be Mononoke, Spirited Away, then Castle in the Sky (just like the order of my favourite movies!). I did find Howl's to be rather pleasant, and the songs Hisaishi composed for Ponyo (MINUS the horrible English Ponyo song with the tweens), particularly the "Mother Sea" song, to be very peaceful and calming. Hisaishi is a friggen genius though! Kiki's, Totoro, and Nausicaa were nice toooooooo! [Haven't seen Porco Rosso or Lupin yet :(]
Anyways, I hope to meet them both someday. I would cry.

My favourite Studio Ghibli music:
1. Princess Mononoke - in particular the theme.
2. Spirited Away - Inochi No Namae is so awesome to play on piano.
3. Howl's Moving Castle - I love the theme waltz.

Joe Hisaishi is now officially ranked with my top favourite composers of all time (all the way up there with Hans Zimmer and John Powell.
