Was Mary Anne's (Charlize Theron's) character under Al Pacino's (Milton's) spell?

Did he put her under his demonic spell literally at that "party" and was this was what caused her mental deterioration as well as those nightmares and whatnot?

Even before he intimately violated her (and even in that process, it was also a supernatural attack, correct?) and caused her later to SPOILERS - commit suicide at that hospital.

Do you think he put her under the spell as well? I thought so.

I think it's a very good guess. She was under demonic attack since then. Demons took her ovaries and deprived her of the possibility of having children. Finally, she was led to her complete destruction through the rape by Satan and the recovery in the mental hospital.

No, it does not work like that.

Satan can read people, and uses their sins to tempt them, but he usually does not force people to do things.

At least I think that is how it works in this movie.

Mary Anne was standing in the way of Kevin becoming fully influenced. She also still had some of her morality and good sense. He couldn't let her steer Kevin away from him. So he attacked her.
