Liotta was great in this.
The pick of the performances, IMO. The guy deserved a better career.

Suppose the chance to do coke again - as in Goodfellas - sort of elevated things for him.
"facts are stupid things" Ronald Reagan
Lots of people were great in Copland. Even those in the relatively minor roles like De Niro as Internal Affairs. And Annabella Sciorra as the girl Freddy saved, all grown up and married to another cop.
Dialogue. Acting. Mystery. This movie had it all.
Ray IMO is the MVP of the movie.
Sly gives the best performance but he needed someone with him to help carry the load as Sly couldn't do it alone. Deniro's just a short role and Keitel was the baddie so it all needed Ray to work hard to do it. Thankfully he did and did it in spades. This is imo Ray's best performance. Goodfellas is awesome but he's not really redeemable but here he manages to save his soul and his friend while being an utter mess of a person. Not easy but Ray does it here.
I agree he deserved a better career.
He was brilliant in Narc, definitely worth seeing as it’s a great film as well as featuring a great performance from Liotta.
shareWhen this movie comes up in ‘Trending’ I read holding my breath, I can’t handle anyone saying anything bad about it. It’s not my number one film but it’s without a doubt my most rewatched.
So phew 😅 Yeah Liotta was in top form here but I still think he, and everyone else in this film including DeNiro played off Stallone’s masterful turn, let him run with the performance of his career.
