I couldn't really get into it despite loving Interstellar

I was 7 years old in 1997, and I never saw this movie as a kid. I imagine the worm hole scene would have blown my mind at the time.

I have seen almost every movie in the IMDB top250, and yet when I saw Interstellar last year, my life was changed by it. This isn't some sentimental bullcrap that I would say easily, no movie in history has done that to me. It was life-changing without exaggeration.

Anyway, I went into this movie trying to find some kind of similar vibe here. ALAS.. I could watch Interstellar probably 3 times in a row loving every minute, but this was awful. I was bored out of my mind the entire time.

Is it that this was groundbreaking in the 90's, but that it's a little hard to take in the modern times? Good story telling and emotions don't expire, after all. I was really sad I couldn't get anything out of it! The two hours before the climax are absolutely unbearable and meandering.

Have you seen 2001 Space Odyssey too? Did you like it?

I think the whole thing is that she did not need to leave the pod to travel in space. The aliens used her mind to travel in space.
Similalry her father was not an alien but they simply used him to communicate with her so she could fully understand them.
The reason why there was static is because the pod being an inanimate object could not make the journey she did that is why it recorded the 18 hours of static. It was limited by the time and space that she was not.
So it experinced earth time and space where as she experienced travel that transcended both time and space.
The fact that her mind had to make the journey is why there is a religious undertone to the movie with what the other characters in the movie were experiencing. Its as if to make contact with a being from another planet your mind has to travel even if your body cannot and is that not what faith is all about?????
It is an amazing concept and that is what puts it head and shoulders above other typical sci-fi movies.
That is what I got from watching the movie only once.
