What is your top five saddest movie scenes? For me Once were Warriors (mothers reaction to finding her daughter) Life is beautiful (Death of father, arrival of tank) Crash (daughter getting "shot") Color Purple (sisters getting separated) All Blacks loss to Australia in the rugby world cup semi-final....haha kidding.
- Dead Man Walking (when he's on his way to be executed, when he's looking at her for comfort...I absolutely bawled because I felt as conflicted as she did...it was such an emotional rollercoaster of a movie) - Green Mile (through the execution of John Coffey, when the guard is crying, when Tom Hanks can't give the order, and at the very end when he's wondering how long he still has to live) - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (during the very last memory, when he knows that she's going to be gone forever but he can't stop it) - Eight Below (yes, pathetic but movies where animals die just KILL me) - Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (when Vivi finds out her fiance was killed and the mother is screaming and falls down onto the floor)
Life is Beautiful is right up there too, but not in the top 5 that are guaranteed to draw a tear :)
I'm sad there aren't more Moulin Rouge posts on here. It is my favorite movie of all time and the end gets me pretty much every time I watch it. I don't think it did the last time though.
American History X usually chokes me up a bit and I think Saving Private Ryan is another. there are more that i just can't think of now, but I didn't cry in La Vita é Bella. I loved it, but didn't even get choked up...
For me, 1 Moulin Rouge is such a heartbreaking film. The ending is so sad, even though you know that it's coming because he says what happens to her in the first 5 mins! It still gets me!
2 Withnail and I - the end scene, where they leave each other. Withnail gives a speech after he's left at the end and just walks off into the rain. After all the things they had gone through, they just left each other. And then when I realised that the speech he gave at the end was the part he'd always wanted to play, it made it even sadder!
3 The Descent. Strange choice but the end scene when she's left in the cave, and she "sees" her daughter with her birthday cake. So creepy but sad too, because she's so far gone, she has no grip on reality.
4 The end of Blade Runner. When they are both on top of the building and he gives that amazing speech. And then passes away. Just breath taking.
I'm sure there are others, but those were the ones that got me.
On her majestys secret service - james bonds wife End of days - when arnold throws himself in the sword Tommy Boy - when Tommys dad dies Terminator 2. when Arnold melts himself
"I can't keep doing this on own, with these... people"
Grave of the Fireflies - The little girl playing in the end. Schindler's List - All Schindlerjuden put rocks on Schindler's grave. Titanic - When Rose comes back to Titanic in the end. Requiem for a dream - When you see what's become of the four characters. Lilja 4ever - When Lilja and her friend, the boy, reunite in the end.
In midnight cowboy, when ratzo(?) dies on the bus. It reminds me too much of my friend Silvano, who died when we both lived on the streets. Thank God thats over
SPOILERS < SPOILERS I WARNED YOU! SO DON'T MOAN WHEN YOU SEE THEM!

Don't worry, I cried in the Pokèmon movie as well, though I felt pathetic. I'm usually very sensitive to movies about animals. Here are the saddest movies I know:
Black beauty (1994) - the last 5 minutes, when Joe recognises him and when he's dreaming about Ginger and Merrylegs A vita e bella - the speaker scene and the grammofone scene, but also the end My girl - when Vada is crying in the stairs and when she says "Put his glasses on" A beautiful mind - when he says goodbye to... you know Brother bear 2 - don't remember, I think it was when he had to choose if he wanted to be a bear or not The perfect storm - the ending
And also: Lion King - Mufasas death Homeward Bound- The incredible journey - the ending when Shadow is trapped The fox and the hound - the ending The Cure - the end Spirit- stallion of the Cimarron - it's more touching than sad really. Fried green tomatoes - close to crying in the end Balto - (close to crying) And the end of Taken (the series - Dakota Fanning's goodbye)
I've actually cried in Desperate housewives because the Steve Jablonsky score is so beautiful
Life Is Beautiful- When the boy says "Mamma! Mamma We won the tank!" Dumbo- When Dumbo's Mom is rocking him with her trunk through the bars Green Mile- When they are going to execute Coffey and they are going to put the sack over his face and he says "Don't put me in the dark" Rory O'Shea Was Here- When Rory dies Brokeback Mountain- When Ennis finds the two shirts together in Jack's closet My Left Foot- When Christy writes Mother Gunga Din- When they show Gunga Din in military uniform The Man Who Would Be King- When Peachy forgives Danny before he dies
Vita e Bella- Guido getting shot until the credits Saving Private Ryan-"Tell me I've lead a good life..." Big Fish-Final hospital scene until the credits A League of Their Own- The scenes with Marla and her father What Dreams May Come-Too many scenes to mention Stealing Home-Ending Miracle Worker-"Water" Defending Your Life-Ending United 93-Ending
Probably more...I've become more emotional when watching movies since my daughter was born.
Life is Beautiful- Guido's death Schindler's List- "I didn't do enough" Wizard of Oz- Dorothy's farewell to her friends in Oz The Parting of the Ways (Doctor Who episode)- Christopher Eccleston regenerating
and a little princess! i cant believe that was here only once I bawled in that movie, especially when the father doesnt recognize her and when she is giving the speech to the old hag like "didnt your daddy ever tell you you were a princess?" ridiculous but true.
and titanic of course. i had to get out of the theater i couldnt see. when she jumps back into the ship! after already being on a boat..! and gladiator. his wife and kids? all.. god.
For this movie i only cried at the part where the uncle is changing for the "shower" and has no idea whats going on and tries to help the nazi woman who fell. I can't take it when older people are about to die!
Schindler's List Ladder 49 Armageddon Titanic (I start crying right when you see molly out on the ocean looking at titanic sinking and everyone in panic. From there till the end i just sob)
Pretty much every other movie thats on here that i've seen, i cry
La Vita È Bella (obvious) Hotel Rwanda (several times) Crash (daughter getting 'shot') Dancer In The Dark (the execution) Grave Of The Fireflies (several times)
Other movies that made me shed a lot of tears: City Of God, Hana-Bi, Schindler's List, Mar Adentro, Sophie Scholl, Spirited Away, Once Were Warriors, My Life Without Me, Freedom Writers, Amélie, Ladri Di Biciclette, In America, As It Is In Heaven.
I'm not going to list the movies where I cried, but in this particular case, it was definitely the scene at the very end when he is reunited with his mother.
I didnt cry for this movie (actually not even clode to crying) until that kid (narrator) said "this is my story.. This is the sacrifice my father made for me.." After that scene i burst out and cried till end of the credits..
I dont remember other genuine cries i had. But the following are the movie which made my life hell for 2 hrs and i cried coz not able to tolerate the torture.
Gigli Battlefield earth catwoman adventures of pluto nash i know who killed me
.. That part at the end, when the narrator is revealed as Giosue, was the EXACT moment the tears came for me. I kept repeating that line in my head for the next few minutes. But I came pretty close to tears with the gramophone scene, and when Uncle Eliseo goes to "take a shower".
That said, some movies where I teared up (so far they're all disney films LOL): - Up ("Stuff We Did" where Carl finds pictures of their married life under "stuff I'm gonna do") - Toy Story 2 ("When somebody loved me.." I hate that part. Haven't seen 3 yet!) - Dumbo (Haven't seen the whole movie, just the "Baby Mine" part!) :(
1. Life is Beautiful, when the dad gets shot and then the tank scene at the end, when he's telling his mom that he won it--to date that's the only time I've ever cried watching a movie. Other than that:
2. Hotel Rwanda..I can't remember the actual scene but it was when they were rounding up these orphans to go to safety I think. I saw it awhile ago so I don't remember the actual scene but it made me so sad.
3. Ray...when his brother died and his funeral.
4. I Am Legend..when his dog died and he went to the video place and told the mannequin he told a friend he would say hi to her, and then he cries and says "please say hello to me"
5. Crash..same as your scene, when the daughter gets "shot" and says the magic cloak (I think) protected her
Morning was mocking us, blood hit the sky, I was just happy, my manic and I.
