Pamela is surprised to learn about the existence of Batman & Robin when Gotham Gertie tells her that they protect the city and everyone laughs at her not knowing who they are. Are Batman & Robin not supposed to famous or known to the world outside of Gotham City?

shareI do wonder how long Pamela had been working in the jungle. If she is supposed to be the same age as Uma Thurman when she acted in the role (26), she must have recently graduated as doctor before the event of the movie, since she would have been about 20 or 21 when she graduated college (assuming she sped through her undergrad not being the social type) and it would probably take another 5 or 6 years to complete graduate school and her doctorate.
shareIn addition to Pamela's disconnectedness, we don't know a lot about the world outside Gotham. Maybe it's crawling with (DC) superheroes and villains. Maybe the only one most people (Non-celebrity superhero buffs) can actually name is (maybe) their local team or Superman... Everybody must know him.
shareYeah, you are definitely right about Superman since Batman acknowledges he exists in the opening scene (“This is why Superman works alone”).
