Was Bane supposed to be like the Incredible Hulk?

I of course, don't entirely understand why Joel Schumacher, Akiva Goldsman and company decided to depict Bane like that in the movie. But the Hulk angle seems quite obvious now that I think about it. Both Bruce (David) Banner and Antonio Diego start off as these seemingly meek, scrawny little twerps who suddenly becomes these humongous, growling, monosyllabic brutes. I mean Bane as he's normally depicted as, is already pretty muscular and huge even without the venom agent.

I have no idea. Someone said on the post about asking why he was in the movie that Scumacher's godson or whatever had some input about Bane being in the movie. My guess is he was meant to be nothing but for show and plot demands since they already had two villains and focusing on another one would just make the story more messy. After all, focusing on two central villains is pushing it, but not truly that bad, but making three central is clearly overkill.

Yeah I'm not sure why he was just "the muscle" in this movie.

It is rather dumb that he was in a movie made to be like the Adam West Show though the same could be said for Two Face in Batman Forever.

reply

They probably just didn’t know what else to do with him.

reply

Never thought of it that way
