They didn't know what they wanted with Mr. Freeze

He is
*a Wacky 60's era Punster.
*a Sympathetic and mostly unfeeling villain like the Animated Series.
*and a Straight up coldhearted horrifying murderer.

at multiple points of the movie.

None of those 3 personalities work together.

If he's the animated version we're supposed to have some sympathy for... he wouldn't be going around indiscriminately killing people like we see in at least one point of the movie.... nor would he be living in a frozen food company watching the year without Santa Claus's Snow Miser scene... with a bunch of dudes on ice skates.

The wacky punster stuff... diminishes any menace we are supposed to feel from him if he's a coldhearted murderer and again... if he's supposed to be unfeeling his goofy quips don't make any damned sense.

I definitely noticed this as well. Freeze's characterization was particularly poor when it came to the characters. Clearly they wanted to make him sympathetic while being comedic and evil at the same time. That's not how villains work most, if not, all the time.
