Past its sell by date?

Personally I haven't watched it since john nettles called it a day.

I do think the more recent ones have increasingly improbable plots. I think they are running out of ideas. Must be after twenty years.

There was a good episode last night. 'The Miniature Murders' AKA 'The Midsomer Museum of the Family.' Annette Badland as Fleur is becoming a strong character in the series now. I think Midsomer is reviving with some unusual stories just lately.

I like Neil Dudgeon as the main character Barnaby. Somewhat unpredictable with his humour and sudden serious turns. And he's had some lovely dog sidekicks while he's been in charge. The cross terrier Paddy has replaced the wonderful Sykes of series 14 to 18. Anybody who may have given up on Midsomer should perhaps give it another try.

I liked the John Nettles episodes better, but Neil Dudgeon does okay. Mostly I miss Jones and Troy. I didn't care for Scott much - too much of a womanizer. Not that I don't expect folks to have relationships, but he came across as a bit too much "on the prowl." Winter is meh.

I saw the entire series.

reply

No, I still enjoy it immensely. Keep ‘em coming, I say.

They are going to keep coming from what I've heard this week. The 22nd series will be shooting as soon as possible as current circumstances allow. And the front cast will be the same as last time.
